Seth’s first memory of gardening is as a toddler, walking barefoot picking up earthworms behind his dad as he was tilling the family garden.
Seth took the lessons he learned from Virginia State Fair competitions, family and the many mentors and friends he made when completing the Master Gardener class program at 16. He turned that knowledge into expanding his garden by making a Colonial Williamsburg inspired raised bed garden for his high school project.
Seth’s expertise grew even more while he worked for a local flower farm and the idea and desire to eventually have his own urban farm was born.
After reading an article by chefs in local area restaurants about the high demand for locally grown organic herbs and edible flowers, he did research and then contacted a restaurant in Yorktown, Virginia. His interest grew, Seth officially started Mini Acre Farm in April of 2010.
Seth is thankful to his parents for having the courage and making the sacrifice to homeschool him and his siblings through high school. This afforded him the opportunity to explore and pursue his talents and dreams at an early age.
In addition to gardening, he has several years of experience working for both profit and non-profit companies in publicity, marketing, fund raising and freelance journalism.
Seth has served as a member of the board of directors for business associations, arts foundations and has been a volunteer member for several non-profits for over 2 decades. He also owns and operates his own professional photography business, Through My Lens Photography and is owner/editor of The Bulletin Post.
He also has work experience in event planning, freelance photojournalism, marketing, community outreach, fundraising, committee leadership, newsletter editor, and content creator.
